The nymph Iris immediately places the viewer in a timeless moment of magic. Golden vines run through her naked female body. They reflect her precious attachment to the earth.
Her verticality and her wings as upper limbs give her celestial impulses. The messenger between men and gods is thus devoid of grip. She also has closed eyes. She lacks sight and touch, yet she makes the elusive visible.
